Feeling overwhelmed in the city? The Oriental Luxury Suites in Tagaytay offers a place for your much-needed escape without having to travel far away from the metro.
December 12, 2019 — A roller coaster of emotions dawns on me whenever I look back at the year that was. Huge failures and frustrations, now I understand, aren’t made so we would pursue rest. Rest, whether you’re tired or not, stressed or not, worked up or not, is a necessary discipline to keep us going.
December is finally here. Aside from the fact that it’s the last month of the year, I’m also reminded that this month many years ago, I was born. Even when recent happenings don’t call for a celebration, a close friend who shares the same birth month as I reminded me of a reason to rejoice. So we did.
My dear friend traveled all the way from Manila and met me at Robinson’s Dasmariñas where we would be taking the bus to Tagaytay. By God’s grace and favor, this was an all-expense accommodation for a media feature at the company I work for.
We got off the bus with our carry-on bags. Roadside we stood in front of the resort. It was a quiet afternoon, and the gates were closed. The sun was scorching hot but the leaves of the trees gave us a little shade. The guard approached us and said, “Papasok po ba kayo? Dito po ang reception.” My friend and I burst out in laughter. Yes, we looked stupid (still laughing as I write this) and we didn’t mind at all.
Even though situated beside the bustling main road, the resort was secluded as it could get. Towering walls enclosed this pocket of paradise, separating it from the world outside. In our defense, the reason for our confusion is that there were two entrance doors: a huge gate (for the events I suppose) and an office in the far end for the guests/walk-ins.
The guard led us inside the reception and I had a brief talk with the manager (for our media partnership, not for the comical incident). After verifying my identity and the arrangement, she escorted us inside the resort. The place just took my breath away. My friend and I were both astounded, giddy over this haven.
Beautiful women, anticipating our arrival, had welcome drinks and towels on their hands. They wore batik dresses that match the Asian artistry theme of The Oriental Luxury Suites Tagaytay.
The manager toured us around the different rooms and facilities of the resort. We started with the living space and dining area. Every corner was a piece of art! Earth-toned furnishings, wood elements, pottery, and green lush filled the area and it was a vacation for the eyes.
We also visited the garden, pool, and events hall. The sky just above us painted the space with peaceful azure. I almost forgot that we’re still in my home province because the gripping view tells us otherwise.
There are only 7 rooms in The Oriental Luxury Suites villa — an assurance to its guest that overcrowding wouldn’t be a problem for their time of refuge. It’s also noticeable that they dedicated many lounge areas all around, encouraging people to pause and talk, be it in big groups or small ones.
We took a peek inside each of the rooms uniquely designed to give the guests the best experience. The grandest one, Railay, will make you feel like true Asian royalty. This presidential suite embodies luxury, equipped with a full kitchen, a balcony, and a lavish bathroom.
The Oriental Luxury Suites Tagaytay also has rooms for families. Phanom Rung is located at the first level and welcomes 4 adults and 2 children. For a starting family, Chiang Rai located at the second level can comfortably fit 2 adults and 2 children.
Meanwhile, for those who want a more intimate stay, Chiang Mai is a spacious sanctuary with one king-size bed and a balcony that’s perfect for organizing your thoughts in a calm and inviting environment.
My dear friend and I stayed at Kanchanaburi located on the first level. The room gave us easier access to the lobby and we’re right across the swimming pool!
Every accommodation comes with a complimentary breakfast, an option between Filipino and American sets. To get the full The Oriental Luxury Suites experience, we chose the Filipino-style breakfast which consists of Daing na Bangus, Tapsilog, Danggit and Sinangag (garlic fried rice!). Garden salad and fruits-in-season were also served to please the appetite before and after the heavy plates.
For the rest of the morning, we enjoyed a dip in the infinity pool. We never expected to be the only guests during that weekend, so we maximized every corner of this place while we were here.
