Cagraray Eco-Energy Park is an ecological park that features trekking, zip lines, a swimming pool, and an open-air amphitheater overlooking the picturesque Albay Gulf. Roughly an hour away from Legazpi City, Cagraray Island, where the eco-park is situated, is also known for the renowned Misibis Bay
April 19, 2019 — Frustrated. I was utterly frustrated by how our day was turning out. Our last day in Bicol was spent braving the thick crowd in Daraga Church and Cagsawa Ruins. The intensely hot weather and dense foot traffic took all my energy. We also wanted to see Sumlang Lake but backed out due to the high volume pedestrian and vehicular queues. It was the peak season because of the Holy Week break so my group and I expected that everybody would be everywhere. Awful is a word to describe it.
Our itinerary was no longer relevant since we had to adjust everything. At the last minute, we decided to bring the adventure in Cagraray Eco-Energy Park in Bacacay. It was the right decision since this tourist attraction is not commonly included in tour packages offered for guests staying in Legazpi City area.
The road to Cagraray Island from Legazpi City was definitely one for the books: smooth, curvy, clear and blessed with a wonderful view. We stopped at Sula Bridge, the one that connects Cagraray Island to mainland Albay, to check out the scenery (see above photos). Not very far from it was another spectacular sight of Albay’s stunning landscapes and magnificent bodies of water.
It is indeed a remote attraction, perhaps the reason why it isn’t included in the usual tour packages. In the hour that we’re traveling, there was nothing else to see aside from a few beach resorts. And the one closest to the eco-park, with only a kilometer away, was Misibis Bay Resort. If you’re having a hard time locating Cagraray Eco-Energy Park, there are signs that point to famous Misibis Bay.
After paying the entrance fee of ₱25 per person, we drove straight ahead and noticed the Stations of the Cross placed at different points. While passing by a few of the stations, a white-washed structure caught the corner of my eye. I walked around it and saw the fullness of its beauty. Stella Maris Chapel is a popular venue for intimate weddings especially because of the dreamy glass windows.
On an estimate, the chapel may probably seat around 50 persons inside. The setting at Stella Maris Chapel sure makes occasions feel more special, given that it is located on a top of the hill overlooking the sea. Charming as it seems, it would be better, though, if the management can give it a facelift since the paint job has worn off.
Another highlight of the tour is the amphitheater. The amphitheater in Cagraray Eco-Energy Park has become known because of its iconic structure. It is an open-air stadium with 18 rows of seats positioned in a semi-circular manner. The platform had five massive stones standing at the back portion. Everything was beautifully laid out to harmonize with nature.

I just visited the Eco Park November 28, 2021.
Obviously suffering from the covid lockdown and lack of tourism.
No more zip lining, swimming, etc. No maintenance.
Still worth the trip for the views & amphitheater.
That’s so sad… Hope they can bounce back!
