Coron holds so many postcard-worthy wonders in its enchanting islands alone, not to mention the attraction in its charming coastal town. From visiting historical churches to hiking a hill, make sure to visit these 5 places during your Coron Town Tour.
August 12, 2017 –Our first day at Coron started with a hearty lunch at Sophia’s Garden Resort where we stayed for three days. The pleasant afternoon that followed was unexpected. We first visited the Lualhati Park where a full view of Mount Tapyas perceived formation awaited us. The rest of the day was both thrilling and insightful. Take a glimpse of the places I’ve visited during this Coron Town Tour by Amika Travel and Tours.
1. Lualhati Park
This park may seem like nothing special at first but thanks to our guide, Kuya Jonel, we were able to appreciate this unassuming view deck. Lualhati Park is a reclaimed space that lies just across the market and parallel to the boat docking area where one can take a good full look at Mt. Tapyas’ irregular shape.
2. Souvenir Shop
It’s always a must for Filipino travelers to bring home to families and friends colorful ref magnet souvenirs from places they’ve gone to. When in Coron, the Coron Souvenir and Gift Shop is not to be missed. Aside from the magnets, the huge store offers novelty items ranging from various decorations made of wood to pairs of shiny pearl earrings.
3. Saint Agustin Church
Saint Agustin church is the only Catholic church in Coron. It is an intimate church sitting right at the town center where regular masses are held every Sunday at 6:30 am.
4. Mount Tapyas Viewdeck
Mt. Tapyas is a 723-step trail leading to the famous view of the sunset here in Busuanga. The Filipino term “Tapyas” means “cut.” Upon reaching the hilltop, there was barely anything that blocked the view of the massive heavens, except for the huge cross that stands in the middle of the viewing deck.
5. Maquinit Hotspring
The perfect way to cool down after a challenging trek from Mt. Tapyas is to get a therapy at Maquinit Hotspring. Composed of three pools, the saltwater hot springs are usually flocked by tourists at night while a grand view of the seascape during the day.
It was an afternoon filled with adventure as I breathed in the beauty of the town center. The Coron Town Tour wouldn’t have been awesome if not for our tour guide Kuya Jonel!
