South Cebu Adventure: Cuartel Heritage Trail, Oslob

Even before Oslob gained its popularity from the whale sharks, the town of Oslob already takes pride in its charming ruins, including the Cuartel Heritage Trail. The structure was built during the Spanish era to serve as barracks. However, when the Americans came to colonize the Philippines, the construction was left unfinished.

July 31, 2015 — After visiting Tumalog Falls, we rode the habal-habal (for ₱70)  to go to the Cuartel Heritage Site. There were lots of students that day running around for a school activity in the nearby gym or stadium. We didn’t get to visit the inside of the church and also the museum (which was closed). But what we got to see was the cuartel itself.

It is not hard to notice that the southern part of Cebu is rich with old structures and buildings. One of those is the Cuartel Heritage Trail which served as barracks during the Spanish era.

We didn’t get to see the whole trail because some parts are being constructed. The tour was quite short, but the site was fantastic scenery. After an hour of roaming around, we went back to MB Sunrise View Resort, showered, packed our things, and headed straight to Moalboal.
